Destiny 2 Farewell God Roll Guide

Vortainment no longer exists as anything other than an archive of old content.

Season of the Splicer has introduced and reissued a slew of weapons to Destiny 2 and they are mostly a great lot. The season has also introduced some sweet new perks for these weapons.

One of the new weapons is Farewell, a Lightweight Frame kinetic Sidearm (the only kinetic 360 rpm sidearm and only the second one in that game that hasn’t been sunset).

Before we begin, you can check out our other Destiny 2 weapon god roll guides here.

How to Get Farewell

Farewell drops from the Season of the Splicer activity, Override and its related sources.

Use your Ether to craft a Key Code in the Splicer Gauntlet, and then complete Override and use the key to open the Conflux Chests to have a chance at getting Farewell.

You also have a chance at getting the weapon from Splicer Servitor Reputation Rank packages. You gain Reputation by earning Decrypted Data, which you get from completing Override and seasonal challenges.

It can also drop as your weekly Powerful Reward for completing eight bounties from the Splicer Servitor, as well as a chance from the Powerful for completing three Override’s a week or the Pinnacle for opening 3 Conflux Chests a week.

You have a chance at getting it by focusing Umbral Engrams into Splicer Armory Engrams for 25 Decrypted Data, or you can have a 50% chance at getting it by focusing an Umbral into a Splicer Vandal’s Armory Engram for 75 Decrypted Data. If you opt for the Vandal’s focus, you’ll either get Farewell or Gridskipper (pulse rifle).

In order to focus into the Splicer Vandal’s Armory Engram, you’ll need to get 1,000 kills with a pulse rifle or sidearm (or combination of the two) and then claim the triumph.

Farewell Overall God Roll

There are several different great rolls here across all activities, but there’s one I’m spotlighting as a God Roll in PvE and PvP.

Farewell God Roll Perks

  • Smallbore – Increases range and stability
  • Flared Magwell – Increases stability and reload speed
  • Subsistence – Defeating targets partially reloads the magazine from reserves
  • Multikill Clip – Reloading grants increased damage based on the number of rapid kills beforehand.
  • Range Masterwork (or Stability)

Previously, I would have never recommended Subsistence for anything but especially not a sidearm. That’s because it used to cut in half your ammo reserves. This season, Bungie finally realized that sucked and now it no longer limits your reserves. Thus it’s now a top tier perk in PvE especially, and is also useful in PvP.

Subsistence does not proc Multikill Clip, and that’s a good thing. But with Subsistence and the ability to control when you reload to proc Multikill Clip, you’re going to be able to keep Multikill Clip at 3x for quite a well when mowing down red bar enemies.

The perks selected give us the following stats:

Farewell God Roll Stats

Range is important, but on console/controller not quite as important as the Stability. High reload speed also preferred. This setup gets us great handling and reload speed, pretty good stability and solid range.

If you get this roll, you’re set in PvE and PvP. This is the roll I partially have; got the main ones with Subsistence and Multikill Clip, but didn’t get lucky with the barrel (Hammerforged), mag (steady rounds) or masterwork (handling). Still, it’s fantastic.

Alternative PvE God Roll

A secondary PvE roll would be Smallbore/Arrowhead Brake – Flared Magwell/Tactical Mag – Subsistence – Frenzy

I like Multikill Clip better than Frenzy here because MKC works better in PvP. Frenzy got a bit of a nerf this season and still takes a little bit of time being in combat before it kicks in.

If you’re running a grenade based build, like a Sunbracer Warlock build, then you might enjoy having the new perk Adrenaline Junkie in the final slot.

Alternative PvP God Roll

You could also rock a Heating Up or Tunnel Vision roll with Multikill Clip.

Some might prefer having Full Auto with Multikill Clip. Vorpal Weapon is also solid inside the Crucible.

Are you going to be grinding for a Farewell? Let us know in the comments below if you are, and what roll you’re chasing or let us know what your personal god roll is.
