Season of the Splicer has introduced and reissued a slew of weapons to Destiny 2 and they are mostly great lot. The season has also introduced some sweet new perks for these weapons.
One of the new weapons is the Gridskipper, and it instantly grabbed my attention upon seeing it for one main reason. It is a Rapid Fire Energy Pulse Rifle.
I’ll compare it later in the guide, but the main reason I am pumped for this weapon is because my previous favorite PvP weapon, Horror’s Least, has been left behind as a sunset weapon capped at 1100 power.
Gridskipper is even better and this is one weapon I will grind to get my desired god roll for.
Before we begin, you can check out our other Destiny 2 weapon god roll guides here.
How to Get Gridskipper
Gridskipper drops from the Season of the Splicer activity, Override and its related sources.
Use your Ether to craft a Key Code in the Splicer Gauntlet, and then complete Override and use the key to open the Conflux Chests to have a chance at getting Gridskipper.
You also have a chance at getting the weapon from Splicer Servitor Reputation Rank packages. You gain Reputation by earning Decrypted Data, which you get from completing Override and seasonal challenges.
It can also drop as your weekly Powerful Reward for completing eight bounties from the Splicer Servitor, as well as a chance from the Powerful for completing three Override’s a week or the Pinnacle for opening 3 Conflux Chests a week.
You have a chance at getting it by focusing Umbral Engrams into Splicer Armory Engrams for 25 Decrypted Data, or you can have a 50% chance at getting it by focusing an Umbral into a Splicer Vandal’s Armory Engram for 75 Decrypted Data. If you opt for the Vandal’s focus, you’ll either get Gridskipper or Farewell (a sidearm).
In order to focus into the Splicer Vandal’s Armory Engram, you’ll need to get 1,000 kills with a pulse rifle or sidearm (or combination of the two) and then claim the triumph.
Gridskipper PvP God Roll
For PvP, this is the roll I will be grinding for as a direct replacement to my baby, Horror’s Least, even in Quick Play where that weapon is still usable.
We have for our recommendation:
- Smallbore – increases range and stability
- Ricochet Rounds – round ricochet, increases range and stability
- Heating Up – Kills increase accuracy and stability while improving vertical recoil, stacks
- Multikill Clip – Reloading grants increased damage based on number of rapid kills before reloading, stacks 3x
- Range Masterwork
These perks get us the following stats:
Like I mentioned, my favorite Destiny 2 PvP weapon has been Horror’s Least. My Horror’s Least has Small Bore/Light Mag/Zen Moment/Kill Clip/Range Masterwork.
With the Range Masterwork, it has a Range of 60. Stability on it is 60 and Handling is 30.
As you can see, this Gridskipper has basically a version of the same roll only made better by Ricochet Rounds. Our Range is the same at 60, but stability gets the +10 bump and Handling gets the +7 bump. My Horror’s Least has a +2 more aim assistance and +6 more reload speed but that doesn’t even matter. The Gridskipper even has one additional zoom value over my Horror’s Least.
I won’t be upset if I get Tunnel Vision/Multikill Clip. I think that would also be a great roll, but Heating Up is just gonna be better and still maintains that synergy with Multikill Clip.
The recommended God Roll here combined with a Taking Charge + High Energy Fire build will be dominant, especially on console. Rapid Fire Pulse rifles, especially with damage increasing perks and charged with light have been criminally slept on for quite some time in the Crucible. But they can absolutely shred in two bursts.
Timeworn Spire is a fantastic Rapid Fire Frame added back into the game last season, but it’s Kinetic and thus not a direct replacement for Horror’s Least. Now with this weapon being the only one of the archetype in the energy slot, we have options.
If you want to have fun in the crucible, rock a kinetic sidearm with the Gridskipper and take it to the shotgun/hand cannon meta wielders.
Gridskipper PvE God Roll
Pulse Rifles really aren’t in a great spot in endgame PvE, at least this archetype and there are no anti-champion Pulse mods this season. There are better weapons to use in pretty much all PvE activities, unless of course you’re working on a bounty.
Nevertheless, here’s the roll I wouldn’t mind tossing in the vault for a PvE roll:
- Smallbore/Arrowhead Brake
- Ricochet Rounds
- Heating Up/Tunnel Vision
- Multikill Clip/Frenzy
- Range/Stability Masterwork
Surprise! It’s the same roll. Of course Multikill Clip is going to be excellent in PvE as well, and you’ll pretty much always have it and Heating Up (or Tunnel Vision) procced.
Frenzy would be okay, but again as far as God Roll’s go in this case the PvP and PvE roll are one and the same. There’s no topping the Heating Up/Multikill Clip combo here in either activity.

Immediately thought of you when I heard about this weapon. Even though Stasis makes PvP a world of sadness now I still want to grind at least a solid roll
