Tonight’s NXT kicked off with two blockbuster announcements from General Manager William Regal.
The first was a two-night NXT TakeOver event during WrestleMania Week, and the second was the creation of NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship.
Because of the controversial finish of last week’s WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship defense that saw NXT stars, and first-ever Women’s Dusty Cup winners, Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez get cheated in their match against champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler, Regal crowned Kai and Gonzalez as the first ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
The champions were immediately challenged by the team of Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart, and Regal made the first NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship match for later in the show.
In the end, Shotzi pinned Dakota and Blackheart and Moon became the NEW NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
