2021 Dawning Update: The Dawning is back, and this year Glacioclasm has returned, and it can roll with some different perk combinations. I’m not going to rewrite the guide, but I will update the new God Roll right here at the beginning and leave the rest of the guide from last year untouched.
You have a chance of getting Glacioclasm from turning in cookies to different vendors and opening the A Gift in Return. You can increase your chances by going to Eva Levante in the Tower and turning in your Gift for a Unity Gift Exchange. This Gift Exchange means you’re guaranteed either Glacioclasm or the Avalanche Machine Gun. So increases your odds of getting one from 25% to 50%.
Here’s the new PvE roll to be looking for:
Arrowhead Break/Corkscrew Rifling/Smallbore – Liquid Coils – Subsistence – Reservoir Burst
This is the first time a fusion can roll with Subsistence and Reservoir Burst, and together there is nothing better for add clearing. It’s the old Loaded Question on steroids. It’s not going to be better than a rapid fire with Vorpal for boss DPS, but for straight up murdering minor and major (slap a spec on it) enemies, it’s going to be king.
You have your choice for barrel and battery options, but the two perks you want are definitely Subsistence and Reservoir Burst. If you get one with Subsistence and Swashbuckler, keep it until you get this god roll with Reservoir Burst.
For PvP, I’d say the roll stayed the same from last year, but there are better fusions to use in PvP.
Original Guide: This year’s Dawning brought a new void energy High Impact Fusion Rifle to Destiny 2 called Glacioclasm, along with new max power capable versions of previous Dawning weapons Cold Front and Avalanche.
We’re kicking off our Dawning god roll guides with the Glacioclasm.
Note that “God Roll” is subjective. What one considers a god roll might not be what another player would; playstyle and intended activity usage would play a role in that.
And also note that we’re coming at this from the perspective of a console users. These guides are aimed more at console players, or controller users. Not saying that they wouldn’t be good on PC too, but that’s not a platform I play and the game handles differently on PC than it does console.
This God Roll Guide will feature a roll for PvE and PvP. Now let’s get started with the guide for the new fusion rifle Glacioclasm.
Glacioclasm is a Void Energy High Impact Frame Fusion Rifle.
You have a chance to get the weapon from the “Gift In Return” that you will occasionally receive from vendors after giving them a Dawning gift. These gifts always contain a Dawning weapon, but of course you have no way of targeting a specific weapon. Just bake and deliver a lot of cookies.
Here are the base stats for Glacioclasm:
The High Impact Frame fusions had their day in the sun. Everyone remembers the Erentil meta in PvP where that thing was capable of mapping players 40-50 meters out.
Nowadays, these weapons can inconsistently secure a one hit kill at around 21 meters, but that will require every bolt to hit unless you have some damage boosting perk going on. You’ll find them more reliable around 15-20 meters if you want to stretch the far side of it.
For PvE, there isn’t much reason to consider using this over Coriolis Force. That’s just a better fusion rifle for PvE in most instances. However, Glacioclasm can roll with Swashbuckler, and that’s what we’re going to recommend for PvE as that’s the only roll I think could make it better than Coriolis.
Here’s the PvE roll to be on the look-out for:
Arrowhead Break/Corkscrew Rifling/Smallbore – Enhanced Battery/Liquid Coils – Ambitious Assassin/Surplus/Field Prep – Swashbuckler
Yes, you can get Demolitionist on it, but I think Swashbuckler is just all around better. Any combination of the above would suffice, the roll I would consider my God Roll would be Arrowhead/Enhanced Battery/Ambitious Assassin/Swashbuckler.
As you can see, the play here is to have a lot of rounds in the magazine to keep Swashbuckler going. With Enhanced Battery, you can toss on a Back-up Mag mod to have 8 in the mag. Get a melee kill to instantly proc Swashbuckler x5. Kill some trash, reload and get a large magazine from Ambitious Assassin and then go to town.
For PvP, there’s only one roll that I would consider:
Arrowhead Break/Corkscrew Rifling/Smallbore – Particle Repeater – Surplus – High Impact Reserves
The barrel doesn’t matter much to me so long as its one of those three because they offer no negatives.
Particle Repeat for the extra stability.
Surplus because I almost always have at least two abilities charged, and if you have all three then the spread of the bolts is going to be a lot tighter. I wouldn’t necessarily be upset with Under Pressure in this slot.
High Impact Reserves because you start with two shots in PvP so this extra damage perk is already active which could help secure a kill you might not have gotten without the perk.
Fusion Rifles are still good in PvP, they just aren’t stupidly easy like they once were. They remain my second favorite special weapon to use in PvP, but admittedly I am rocking double primaries about 90% of the time.
So those are the God Rolls for Glacioclasm that I’m hunting for and recommend, at least on console. Your god roll may be different, but for my playstyle I think both of these are great rolls and I will certainly be using the next couple of weeks to bake as many cookies as I can to try and acquire at least one of these rolls (and I would prefer the PvE roll).
