WWE 2K Battlegrounds Announced For Fall 2020

2K announced the future of 2K’s WWE games today, WWE 2K Battlegrounds coming Fall 2020.

Battlegrounds is a “completely new WWE gaming experience that will feature arcade-style action and over-the-top Superstar designs, environments and moves. We’re focusing on social pick-up-and-play fun, but with plenty of depth for those who want to get way into it.”

Battlegrounds is being developed by Saber Interactive, the team behind NBA Playgrounds. You can check out the trailer below.

Patriot’s Position: I welcome this. This is pretty much a revamped WWE All Stars, and I love it because that was my favorite WWE game in a long time. I like sim football, I like sim baseball, but I can’t stand overly simulated wrestling games. Over the top arcade action though, that’s what I like. This looks a little too over-the-top, but we’ll see what happens as this was just a teaser trailer.

If the game has a large roster, and fun modes, then this is likely something I’ll play a ton. My fear, and I have no knowledge of NBA Playgrounds, is that this will have a mobile feel to it with an abundance of micro-transactions that will quickly suck the enjoyment out especially since I doubt it’ll be a free-to-play game.

With all that said, I’ll remain optimistic that this will be as fun or better than All Stars, which is a game I loved playing.
